Hey guys I made up a list for combat patrol and I'm looking for some comments:
HQ~ Khan On Moon Draken- 205
TROOP 1~ Bike Squad with 5 Bikes, an attack bike with a multi melta, sgt will have power wep.- 205
OPTION 1- I might put a bare bones combat squad here
OPTION 2- or a Landspeeder, If I choose the speeder, should I go with Autocannon and Heavy Bolter/Flamer, or maybe Multi Melta and Heavy Flamer/Heavy Bolter?
OPTION 3- Buy 3 more bikes, make it a squad, and pimp them out with flamers and meltas?

All comes out at 500 points.
Thanks for reading!

NOTE: If I finish all my assembly by this Saturday (the day of the tourney) will anybody want to play a combat patrol with me?

Saturday is a big tournament. You are more then welcome to come on down though, and check things out. Just so you know though it will probably be packed for the tourney.

I had to vote no since this wasn't an IG force.

IG is the only way to go in 40K.

umm i found some combat patrols on the GW site but I don't know what edition they are or anything. However I have heard that there is no unique characters allowed and it's only 400 points? Where can I find the latest rules?

there are no "official" 5th ed combat patrol rules.

Army builder has some guidelines.

<600 points
⇒ 1 HQ
⇒ 2 or more Troops
⇒ 0-1 Elite
⇒ 0-1 Fast Attack OR 0-1 Heavy Support

It didn't seem to have a problem with unique chars or 2+ saves, etc

I also found the Adepticon 2011 rules. you can google it and find the pdf. Basicly...

• Armies will consist of 400 points or less, and must conform to the following Force Organization restrictions:
⇒ 0-1 HQ
⇒ 1-3 Troops (you MUST bring at least one Troop choice)
⇒ 0-1 Elite
⇒ 0-1 Fast Attack
⇒ 0-1 Heavy Support
⇒ 0-1 ‘Swing Slot’ (this maybe be used to field one additional Troops, Elite, Fast Attack OR Heavy Support choice)
• Armies are not required to take mandatory unit choices. All other unit restrictions (i.e. 0-1) apply.
• You may spend remaining points on units from anywhere in the Codex.
• With the exception of Troops and models with the Swarm Universal Special Rule, No model can have more than 2 Wounds.
• Psykers may be used, but may NOT use any power requiring a psychic test.
• No model may have a 2+ or a 2+ invulnerable save.
• No monstrous creatures.
• No Special/Unique/Named Characters are allowed in the Warhammer 40K Combat Patrol event.
• Aside from Troops choices and dedicated Transports, only vehicles with a maximum of 11 in any armor facing may be taken. Dedicated transports and troops may have a maximum armor facing of 12. Vehicle Squadrons and Artillery units at permitted provided every unit within the unit individually would be permitted.
• The following codices are allowed in the Warhammer 40K Combat Patrol event: Codex Black Templars, Codex Blood Angels, Codex Chaos Daemons, Codex Chaos Space Marines, Codex Daemonhunters, Codex Dark Angels, Codex Dark Eldar, Codex Eldar, Codex Imperial Guard, Codex Necrons, Codex Orks, Codex Space Marines, Codex Space Wolves, Codex Tau Empire, Codex Tyranids, Codex Witch Hunters.
• New codices that are released prior to March 1st, 2011 will be allowed in the Warhammer 40K Combat Patrol event.
• Forge World/Imperial Armor units are NOT allowed in the Warhammer 40K Combat Patrol event, however players may still use their Forge World models to represent a unit from their codex.
• Individual units that may have multiple rules versions will follow the rules presented in that army's codex. Yes, this means a Black Templar Land Raider will function differently than a standard Space Marine Land Raider. Please take the time to review the relevant GW/AdeptiCon FAQ's for clarifications.

Long story short, the rules are basically what you and your opponent agree to. I wouldn't mind playing a patrol game sometime.

I would suggest something like

750 points or less
⇒ 0-1 HQ
⇒ 1-3 Troops
⇒ 0-1 Elite
⇒ 0-1 Fast Attack
⇒ 0-1 Heavy Support
⇒ 0-1 ‘Swing Slot’ (this maybe be used to field one additional HQ, Troops, Elite, Fast Attack OR Heavy Support choice)

• Armies are not required to take mandatory unit choices. All other unit restrictions (i.e. 0-1) apply.
• With the exception of HQ, Troops and models with the Swarm Universal Special Rule, no model can have more than 2 Wounds.

Given the above at 500 points, I would probably run something like...
company command squad and primus psyker in a Chimera
2x Vet squads in Chimeras

Sweet, why cant we put something together like a mini-tournament like this?

In a small point battle like this, the Guard just looks so imposing sitting inside their Chimeras!

i would love to do a 500 point tourney. then i can finally play a real game! I would make the brackets and stuff if you guys want. maybe it could be teams of two like in halo "Team Doubles" so like so:
Jeff and Bob vs Dave and Jim
but if Jeff and Bob win they stay as a team for the next match. just an idea.

At 500 points, with limits on heavy armor and monstrous creatures, I would be tempted to borrow adam's SM for the thunderfire cannon. That plus smurfs in rhinos, bikes, speeders, etc might make for an interesting time of it.

A patrol clash tourney would be interesting. The rules would have to be clearly spelled out and agreed upon with reasonable time before hand. I'm not so keen about the pairs idea, but what do I know.

I think we should make a new topic and draw up some rules and maybe talk about a date.

I thought about Vendettas with HBolters also, but they wouldn't make it past the AR requirements from Adepticon. The rules shape the battle.

Does anyone have access to an earlier edition's patrol clash's rules? That plus army builder, plus adepticon would give us a good place to start.
