Before I get into the details, I put this up to a vote! This months tourney will be 1500 points. The scoring system used will be determined by vote.

If an alternate system to what we've always done is to be used, it will count as anywhere from 25%-50% of the total score (depending on what I come up with), with the other portion of the scoring (50-75%) being the results of the battle.

The alternate scoring system will consist of painting/modelling scores, army theme and composition scores, and sportsmanship. I know this is a little vague in the details, but I'm not going to figure out a new scoring system exactly unless the majority of players want to do something different.

So vote, and please sound off here as well, as I will give more weight to votes that are backed up by posts of people who will actually be playing, or at least plan to attend.

The poll will be open for 7 days.

thanks,
chris

i just don't like the idea of a tournament being influenced by how nice you are or how nicely your army is painted. in the immortal words of nfl coach, herm edwards, you play to win the games. the winner of a tournament should be he who wins the most (or scores the most points in winning).

i do, however, love what you did with the fantasy tournament by giving those who have painted armies extra chances in the drawing. so maybe having bonuses for sportsmanship or painting. those should be rewarded for sure, but i think winning should be based on winning an losing.

I agree with Dru. Perhaps bonuses can be allocated to the best painted armies; decided by a poll of the players?

I think I will go to this one!

Dru, you're Eldar are painted well enough to compete paint-wise against my Relictors. Well....... maybe. Twisted Evil
I think it all needs to be scored - no matter how the prizes are divided up - as a practice run for real tournaments. Score it as seriously and harshly as a GW judge might.
Then plan a tournament a few months down the road for the next time GW prize support is divided up. Still charge five bucks for the tourney. Give the GW prizes to the overall score, give the entry fee to best general.
We had something like five new people building armies this weekend. Its the way I wanted a tourney, but the worst time to do it.
Ill edit this in a bit, gotta go pick kids up now.

Why are you making me chose between warhammer and warmachine? You know my wife won't let me out for both.

I agreed wholeheartedly with dru. I think soft scores should go towards extra chances in the drawing. The raffle is a great way to reward people for other aspects of the hobby.is love to see all you guys with awesomely painted armies get some recognition because its just more fun to play against.

I will not be able to make Oct 23rd....therefore, no vote from me.

I like the idea of recognizing the best painted army via a vote and some winnings. Just keep it seperate from what a player does on the field of battle.......er, I mean on the table.
