It's official: Bob Dole has decided that killing trees for a living isn't working fast enough to forward his plans for world domination, so instead of destroying the Earth by deforestation, he's decided to use (da-da-da-daaa-da) SCIENCE! to control the world by manipulating its drinking water supply!

Okay, seriously...

I stumbled across an ad on Monster.com two weeks ago for entry-level laboratory technicians with college chemistry required and optional lab experience. The company, Summit Environmental Technologies headquartered in Cuyahoga Falls, has a branch in New Mexico and conducts tests on samples from resevoirs, aquifers, and other bodies of water nationwide to screen for any contaminant the EPA can think of. My background includes polymer science in high school, my college level organic/inorganic chemistry teacher was on the team that developed Agent Orange, and I served in the National Guard as an Environmental Compliance Officer. The best part about my interview was that the guy that interviewed me was a medic in Vietnam attached to an Artillery Battalion, so we speak the same language and he knows exactly the kind of laboratory experience I have with the physics behind modern artillery pieces. I was practically a shoe-in for the position and it pays a lot better than my current bulk mail job, which is going to end the 29th, just in time for this month's 40k tournament.

I start July 5th, giving me a much-needed vacation for my birthday (and I do plan on spending some of that day at the shop) and the Fourth of July. The best part is that I don't have to move away from the area, my hours don't change, the benefit package is better, and I actually have something mentally stimulating to do that has a future with advancement potential!
