I just wanted to start a thread so we can brainstorm in the moments after the shootout in the smoldering ruins on the edge of town.

Candy doesn't yet know about the glove that Bjorn stole and Bjorn isn't exactly in a position to speak as he writhes in agony about the floor; apparently, Candy's boots are steel-toed and Bjorn found out the hard way as Candy steps into the adjacent room within earshot of the conversation putting her corset-top back on.

She's going to be peeved when she sees the glove tucked into Theo's belt; Bjorn may want to invest in a cup in the very-near future...

What is known is that all of these guys were MSU, but we do not yet know, based on what Alice tells us, is if they are in league with the Mayor or acting out of their own interests. Keeping this little nugget of information under wraps from the general public right now is probably going to pay off in Spades (Crows?) later. Seeing as this is a mining town, the majority of the populace is probably MSU and we could use this fact to "influence" the upcoming election.

Bjorn will be holding onto the guns we looted and trading/bartering/selling the tools used as impromptu hand weapons. We're going to need all the cash we can get until we can establish some kind of line of communication with Potts. For the moment, we have to assume we're on our own. Each of us bagged four Script.

When Bjorn gets back on his feet (or is at least crawling around), it may be imperative to give him some kind of out-of-the-way (and very quiet) place to read/research/tinker without drawing attention to himself. In the meanwhile, somebody's got to fill me/Candy in about our friend in the local constabulary and what he told you about the town; I was AFK for about half of what Jim read-off about that... What I did catch was that the mayor is dragging his feet on purpose about the whole issue with the Neverborn raids and that Alice got really close to something and that's what got her kidnapped; obviously they wanted to know exactly how much she knew, otherwise, the would have shot her outright in stead of torturing her to death (unless, of course, the whole idea was purely to make her suffer).

I also caught little bits of what the Sheriff told you guys, like most of the deputies don't give a rip about most things that go on, and that the Sheriff is genuinely a guy who cares about the people around him. It also appears that he has an ear very close to the ground if he was able to send you in the direction of the smoldering ruins as quickly as he did. If he turns out to be a good guy, I think Mr. Potts might be interested in tapping him as a resource or an agent.

Alliances, I think, are going to be key and we should probably look into enlisting the help of Lady Slice-and-Dice or possibly the Latigo Posse before this is all over. Bear in mind: Knowledge is power, guard it well; using any of these factions as an ally will have their merits as well as their costs if I read the fluff as well as I think I did. I'm pretty certain the girl with the swords is purely motivated by money, but the Latigo Posse, despite their formidable abilities to deal with Neverborn, are ultimately Guild agents and bringing them in will, invariably, draw scrutiny on us and Mr. Pott's activities.

I think Alice's friend, the Necromancer/Doctor, may be equally as harmful to our efforts with regards to the local populace as she will be helpful. We will, ultimately, keep her operation under wraps, but if we tap her as an asset, other than for medical help, we should proceed as covertly as possible.

We're also, very soon, going to have to get to the bottom of that well and see what's going-on down there and why the Mayor is going to such lengths in order to keep it hidden. Of course, getting there in the middle of the town square under the watchful gaze of everybody and their brother is going to require... Zombies! Specifically, Neverborn zombies! If we could tap the good doctor in order to keep some of the Neverborn that we kill around and reanimate a good-sized group in the middle of town long enough to distract everybody from seeing one or two of us sneaking down the well, I think we've got a shot.

Am I crazy?

I also think there's a way we can get a message through to Mr. Potts, but it will take some doing...

Bjorn is very uncomfortable being cut off from Mr Potts and his support network. He makes his concerns well known in his typical forward used-car-salesman way. Any time he can get alone in some comfortable lodging (with room service, of course) to study Mr Pott's treatise on breaches would be welcome.

He is also quite concerned that his heroes the M&SU are the baddies now and will be looking for any opportunity to get word to the M&SU leadership that their local boss is pissing off everyone with his water selling scheme and smearing their good name. Bjorn thinks he might be able to influence the election if he can show the card carrying members of the M&SU that their local boss is out of favor with M&SU leadership.

"Well, the good news is that we've operated for weeks outside of Mr. Potts' support network and came back no worse for wear before, but you're seriously going to need to learn how that pistol works that I gave you if you want to make it through your first one."

"There's a good chance we're going to have to set-up shop here if we're going to want any privacy, but we should also try and figure-out why the heck this part of town was burned to the ground and who did the burning."

"As for the subject of heroes, goodies, and baddies..." Candy's not going to sugar-coat anything: "To us, the guys that fight with you are the goodies and the people trying to kill you are the baddies. To the baddies, the people that are trying to kill us are the goodies and our people trying to kill them are the baddies. The heroes are determined by who's left standing when all the killing's done and they get to say who the goodies and baddies are when the History books are written, and the sooner you learn how to use that pistol, the better chance you have at living long enough to write down that you and the people that fight with you are the goodies. I've tried magic enough, and the only reliable thing I can tell you about it is that it might work. But when hammer hits primer, I guarantee you that pistol will work every time as long as you keep loading it when it needs loading."

"I am in general agreement the mayor definitely needs to go down in the history books as a baddie and there's only one way he's going to get there, we just have to make sure it's legal... Or that we make it legal..."

Bjorn has no pistol skill and a grace of -2. He will never, ever, ever fire that pistol for any reason. His spells and pugilism are how he does damage. If you are looking for a gunfighter you had best look elsewhere.

She's probably not likely to stop chiding him about it for at least the duration of this module... Or at least until he better establishes his niche in the group and his other talents/abilities (other than the ones that seem to get him in trouble all the time) start to make themselves more useful in her opinion. She's still kind-of a snobby, academic-type after all...

Hey, Jim, random thought: Assuming 10 plus 1 for a total of 11 Notice, I wanted to know (1) if there was anything like a note or letter we can find that links the guys we just fought to the mayor, (2) can we find anything that suggests why this house is so special that it didn't get burned down when all the others in this neighborhood did, and/or (3) why was this neighborhood targeted in the first place?
